New York State Engineering Leader Joins Dawson & Associates

For more than 20 years, many of the State’s most challenging construction projects have looked to Bud for his expertise. He was involved with the Ground Zero reconstruction and the construction management team for the Gowanus Expressway reconstruction.


He is the Mediator for the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s East Side Access Program and was the Owner’s Representative for the Renovation of Manhattan’s Brotherhood Synagogue. He also had program management oversight for the JFK Airport Redevelopment Program.


An authority in construction management, Griffis brings more than 45 years experience to the company, including 26 years service in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. An expert on contracting issues for the Corps of Engineers, Griffis was Contracting Officer for several major acquisitions including the design and procurement of Fort Drum.

Since 2007, he has been heavily involved in research in second generation Magnetic Levitation Vehicles.


Founded in 1997, Dawson & Associates is the nation’s premier government relations firm for water resources and environmental matters. The firm also includes six retired Flag Officers and more than 30 former or retired officials from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Office of Management and Budget, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Department of the Interior.


Col. Griffis has a B.S. degree from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, two Masters Degrees (Construction Engineering and Operations Research) and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Oklahoma State University.
