Dawson’s Tom Sands on Federal flood control reform in The Hill

Updated: Nov 7, 2023

When it comes to flood control in the lower Mississippi River region, few people have more experience than our colleague Tom Sands. Before joining Dawson in 2005, Tom was Commanding General of the Army Corps of Engineers Lower Mississippi Valley Division and President of the Mississippi River Commission.

Today’s Congress Blog, published by The Hill, includes a commentary from Tom about the recent flooding in Louisiana and its lessons for Federal flood control. An excerpt:

Finger-pointing is a natural reaction to major disasters and this one is no exception. If any good at all comes from this terrible disaster, it should be that Congress and the Administration focus on improving areas of U.S. flood control policy.

Tom goes on to offer suggestions for improving Federal flood control policy. To read his blog, click here. Congrats, Tom!
