Dawson & Associates welcomes Amb. Joseph Westphal as Senior Global Advisor

Dawson & Associates is pleased to announce that Amb. Joseph Westphal, a renowned expert on U.S. international diplomacy and domestic policies with service spanning multiple presidential administrations, has joined our firm.


Amb. Westphal will provide strategic advice across a wide array of business practice groups in Energy and the Public Sector. In addition, his legislative acumen and decades of service in government make him an ideal resource for clients desiring a persuasive voice within the governance process.


During his extensive career, Amb. Westphal had pivotal roles in environmental protection, water resources management, and Army operations. As Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works in the Department of Defense, Amb. Westphal demonstrated effective strategic direction for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operations and oversight. As the Undersecretary of the Army and the Army's Chief Management Officer, he demonstrated exceptional leadership in force management and business operations.  He most recently served as the U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the Obama administration.


Amb. Westphal's academic background includes tenures as a professor and department head, specializing in political science, environmental studies, and policy. He was also Chancellor of the University of Maine System and Director of the Tishman Environmental Studies Center at the New School University in New York, where he later was appointed Provost.


He is a Global Senior Fellow at the Joseph H. Lauder Institute of Management and International Studies at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and a Senior Fellow at the Center for Leadership and Change Management, Wharton.
