As beautiful as the following photograph is, it still doesn’t do justice to the original artwork:
A watercolor of an iris by D&A Senior Advisor Lt. Gen. (Ret) Art Williams
Last month, this watercolor of a single purple Iris took first place at the Rockbridge County Art Association’s annual art show in Lexington, VA. Equally important for us, the artist who painted it is our colleague Lt. Gen. (Ret) Art Williams.
Art joined our company in 1998, having served as both Commanding General of the Army Corps of Engineers and National President of the Society of American Military Engineers. For the past 16 years, Art has worked with many clients, offering unmatched expertise on Corps’ matters.
But during his spare time, he has become quite the master artist. Art entered three large watercolors in this year’s Bath County Art Show in Hot Springs, VA and sold them all. Since he took up painting during retirement, Art has sold almost 700 paintings.
Congratulations, Art. It’s an honor that you’re a part of our team!
