Formerly Deputy Commanding General for Civil and Emergency Operations and commander of three Divisions and two Districts in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Michael has unparalleled expertise in water resources policy and operational experience. His public and private sector experience give him the exceptional depth of knowledge our clients seek.
With 36 years in the Army Corps of Engineers, Michael has extensive experience in every aspect of the Corps' water resources project and program management. This includes significant firsthand experience with Corps policies involving navigation flood risk and flood plain management, ecosystem restoration and urban flood risk reduction.
Between 1994 and 2012, Michael served as commander of the South Atlantic, Gulf Region and Mississippi Valley Divisions and the San Francisco and Sacramento Districts. In addition, Michael was Deputy Commanding General Civil and Emergency Operations for Corps, which included responsibility for a $10 billion annual program and supervision of all Civil Works activities nationwide.
After retiring from the Army in 2013, Michael joined Dewberry, which is a leading, professional services firm that provides for a wide variety of public- and private-sector clients, as the executive vice president of Dewberry's National Program and Resilience Solutions Group. He had full profit and loss responsibility for a 200-person team location in 10 offices.
