Biography

Barrie Heinzenknecht brings to Dawson & Associates more than thirty years of  experience from the private sector involving National Environmental Policy Act and Clean Water Act issues and projects across the United States.  Throughout his environmental consulting career, Barrie held increasingly key management positions with his firm becoming a Principal and Board Director from 1989 to 2002.  Over the course of his career, Barrie was responsible for a wide variety of engineering and environmental projects including water resources, energy, real estate, waterfront development and transportation. He also acted in various capacities including overall direction, project management, oversight, as well as preparation of technical studies pertaining to environmental impact studies, license and permit applications, wetland mitigation designs and permit conditions, field sampling and monitoring programs, remote sensing and geographic information systems, site selection studies and public information programs.

Some of the key projects he was responsible for include FERC license applications for a 2,000 MW pumped storage hydroelectric project in Mt. Hope, N.J. and the Trinity River Authority’s Lake Livingston hydroelectric project in Texas; site selection studies for locating flow augmentation reservoirs in the Delaware and Susquehanna River Basins; wetland mitigation plans and designs for 14,000 acres of coastal wetlands along the Delaware Bay involving State relicensing of PSE&G’s Salem Nuclear Station on Artificial Island and for Hartz Mountain Industries, the first large-scale wetlands mitigation project in the New Jersey Meadowlands, and NEPA documentation for Dallas-Fort Worth Airport and the Northeast Battleship Surface Action Group for the United States Navy.

Barrie received a B.A. in Sociology from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Master of Urban Planning degree from NYU.
